2x + y = -2 x + y = 5 The x-coordinate of the solution to the system shown is _____. how do i work this out, what do i do ? help !!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve one equation for x or y, then substitute it into the other equation. I'd recommend solving the second equation for y. It doesn't matter which equation you solve for which variable, but that would be the easiest way.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

or multiply the second equation by -2 then add the equations and solve for y then plug back into wither to solve for x

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

plug y back into either equation to solve for x*

oh ok i get this thank you :)
