The reason given to you, is that it's the definition of angle bisector. So if we look at that definition, we see that if some line segment BD bisects angle ABC, we can draw a diagram like so |dw:1340332810485:dw|By the definition of the angle bisector you know that those two angles I've marked are congruent.
