OpenStudy (richyw):

Can someone help me with a simple bragg reflection question?

OpenStudy (richyw):

X rays scattered from a crystal have a first-order diffraction peak at θ = 15°. At what angle will the second and third order peaks appear? I have already found that taking arcsin(2sin15) and arcsin(3sin15) get the correct answer. I just have no idea why!

OpenStudy (richyw):

the only formula my textbook gives is \[n \lambda=2dsin \theta \] It doesn't say what n is other that "an integer"

OpenStudy (richyw):

never mind, wikipedia explained it. super easy once I realized what n was.
