Why emacs, go for vi/vim! :D When it comes to emacs, maybe running the emacs tutorial will help. If the tutorial doesn't help, then there's always the info page.

GUIDE TO FIXING ALL PROBLEMS WITH EMACS 1. Once emacs is open, press crtl+x then crtl+c 2. At command line type "vim" 3. Live in happiness :) Seriously though, I think if you ask specific questions people may be able to help you out.
