Taking a practice test

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

apply quadratic formula \[x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}\] just apply this and remember \[ i = \sqrt {-1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont think thats right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got x=1 and -4

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

(x-1)(x+1)(x^2+4) x=1 x=-1 x^2=-4 sqrt(x^2)=sqrt(-4) x=+- 2i (when you take the square root of a negative number it becomes a complex number i)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer is x+-1 and x+-2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=*

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

\[x =\pm 1 \ and \ x=\pm2i\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

np :)
