There are many ropes keeping a hot air balloon from floating away before a balloon race. One of these ropes is fixed to the ground at a 45° angle. Another is fixed to the ground at a 30° angle. If the hot air balloon is 18 feet off the ground, what is the distance between the ground directly underneath the balloon and the second rope rounded to the nearest hundredth of a foot? Type the numeric answer only in the box below.

this is a matter of just using SOH CAH TOA, does this make sense to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it doesn't im new to this stuff @Outkast3r09

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright this is a great way to memorize the trig functions SOH stands for Sine(theta)=Opposite/Hypotenuse CAH stands for Cosine(theta)=Adjacent/Hypotenuse TOA stands for Tangent(theta)=Opposite/Adjacent Theta is the angle you're working with, Opposite side is always the one directly across from the angle, Hypotenuse is always directly across from the right angle (90 degrees) and the adjacent is always the left over or the one perp over the opposite
