A view of Anytown, USA is shown on the grid below with Rock Park represented by quadrilateral RSTU. Due to overcrowding, another park will be built similar to Rock Park. Vertices A and D are plotted on the grid to represent two corners of new Sandstone Park. What could be the ordered pairs representing vertices B and C of quadrilateral ABCD so that Sandstone Park is similar to Rock Park? B(7, 1), C(8, 0) B(3, -1), C(4, -2) B(8, 1), C(8, 0) B(6, 2), C(7, 1)

R to U goes down 2 and over 2. A to D goes down 1 and over 1 AD is 1/2 the length of RU, so expect AB to be 1/2 the length of RS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry i still dont understand. What do you mean by ab being 1/2 the length of RS and how is AD 1/2 of RU if AD is not in between RU?

OpenStudy (phi):

they want another "park" similar to the original. Similar means the same shape, but maybe a different size. So you have to pick two points B and C, so that when you connect the dots ABCD you get the same shape as RSTU (but it will be 1/2 as big)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be 3,-1 and 4,-2? since its about half the size?
