5t − 3(1 + t)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
simplifying would be : 5t - 3t + 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
distributive property.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2t-3 not plus 3
OpenStudy (shane_b):
\[5t-3-3t\]\[2t-3\]

ahh, thanks! what abouutt ...Skate station charges a flat rate of $5.00 per day for skate rental plus $2.00 per hour of skating. If the number of hours is represented by "h", which algebraic expression represents the overall rate for "h" hours of skating?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
5d + 2h
OpenStudy (shane_b):
$=$5+2h
OpenStudy (anonymous):
d = day
h = hours

I assumed 1 day...so yulyullie's formula is better.
OpenStudy (shane_b):
total = 6r+2b
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I would say the same for above.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay, thanks. cause i got that.. but wasnt so sure..
OpenStudy (aliahmed):

I think that probably was just to simplify...since it didn't include an = sign. You can assume 0 but I don't :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah. if there was an answer I could use the elimination method to find the value of t but simplifying happens in algebraic EXPRESSIONS.
OpenStudy (shane_b):
@TheViper : I think you forgot to distribute the - sign :)
