The book for this introductory course is freely available at python site . And most of the book suggested in MIT open course ware are free or a cheap alternative is available. Remember you only need to buy Text books suggested not reference books. For reference book join a online digital library or a technical book library near your residence. Having said all this, if you get serious about studying computer , you should own few books that are must in your everyday work in computers. Which should be at hands distance.
