I have a new idea! Can group mods get notifications when a post is made in their group? On a regular basis I'm getting messages from people in my group telling me that someone is posting something off topic bc I don't stare at my group and it bugs me lol. So I think this would be awesome. :)
wait a sec... is there something called group mod?
@rebeccaskell94
If you are not in a group, the chad window does give you a notification about the new question(s). There is also a counter with gives the #
*chat lol and I see that but I usually have chat up and when chat is up it doesn't show a new question was posted.
@Aravind The only official group where there is a group mod is music group. The other group mods are only mods because they made their own group back when group could be made by users. Those groups are unofficial though.
oh I see that xplains y i hav purple in my group
@rebeccaskell94 wat all are the responsibilities and abilities of group mod?
Um the responsibilities include making sure the group is complying with CoC and in my case the ground rules, we have to have some extras because of copyright etc. I make sure people stay on topic and are respectful of other users. Abilities include, kicking people from the group (rarely needed) and deleting irrelevant comments and posts.
i dont have the power to delete posts in my group
Well that's an unfortunate turn of events for you.
You don't have a group that you are a moderator of, AravindG. Group moderators are appointed by the admins, just like global moderators. There is a bug whereby the creator of a group is still marked purple, which I think we have a fix pending for. Rebecca—there is still a counter for new questions when you've got chat up, it's just at the top of the chat.
It doesn't show a counter D:
It should say “x New Questions” in a gray bar right under the chat title.
Maybe it's just because there aren't that many new questions, but I've never seen it haha I'll keep an eye out for it
It's there even if there are no new questions.
oh psh duh. I'm a retard. Don't mind me.
