Compare and contrast the structure and function of a compound light microscope and a dissecting microscope. Be sure to discuss when each would be more useful than the other.
Hello @rich123, You should be able to find information on the structure of each here: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/dissecting-microscope-vs-compound-microscope.html and maybe wiki can help too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereo_microscope As for which would be useful - after reading the above articles, you should have a better idea, but the answer in brief is : for higher magnifications when you want to observe structures at high detail, go with the LM! for lower magnifications when you want to see things (and also manipulate them - hence the name dissection), use the dissecting microscope ~ it also gives a better image of the 3D structure.
