OpenStudy (konradzuse):

Find any relative extrema of the function. (Round your answers to three decimal places.) f(x) = arcsec(x) − 6x

OpenStudy (agent47):

find f'(x) and then where it's 0 or undefined

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

I guess it's like the other one, find the derivative and then solve for x/y?

OpenStudy (agent47):

Yup, and you can use a calculator to differentiate.

OpenStudy (agent47):

and evaluate.

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

\[\frac{1}{|x| \sqrt{x^2-1}}\] -6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe so.

OpenStudy (agent47):

yup, so one of your values would've been: x=0, x=1, and then just set that fancy looking fraction equal to 6 and solve for x.

OpenStudy (agent47):

Sorry, I'm lazy ;)

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

np

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

so now we need to find the y's right? since the min is 0 and the max is 1?

OpenStudy (agent47):

Wait min is not 0 and max is not 1, I mean you may be right but you have to test them first.

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

oh sorries :P.

OpenStudy (agent47):

Keep in mind, max and min aren't measured by how big x, they're measured by how big y is.

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

hpm...
