Find yourself a used copy (available cheap online) of "Biology" by Campbell and Reece. Also, check out the online biology lecture videos of MIT's intro biology class under the biology section of www.ocw.mit.edu .

I so recoment that you must read the Waddington (towards a theoretical biology)

Where do you have to start?! Biology is the science of life, for a fresh start, I think you have to experience the nature around you and start asking question. See all the familiar as the unfamiliar. What makes ant colony gather around sugar, why the tree has green color, why the bees love flower, and so on.. Once you got the concept, everything will be allright. Most important is keep up your curiousity!

I love all the responses, and I noticed that the people that responded used the same textbook as I did. But I also recommend Becker's World of Cell, which has fewer pages and chapters than Campbell Bio.
