can someone help me with my dilemma?/?
I'm building a website , which will be launched in about two years and it seems interesting to use html5 to code it but.. i'm not sure about using it........ is it ready yet? is it advisable to start using it? how about reach and audience? People with older browser version may not be able use it... but html5 will be established in a span of 3 years.... Looks like i might need to take some calculated risk..... help me! Well, if it is only for 2 years time, have no worries about html5. By that time everyone should be using it. Otherwise people would just upgrade their browsers. From wikipedia: "In December 2011 research firm Strategy Analytics forecast sales of HTML5 compatible phones will top 1 billion in 2013"
Browser partially compatible with Html 5 are available, all latest browser use HTML 5 in some way or the other. In 2 years never browser comparability with html 5 will only increase. You issue would be from mobile phone. Will your site provide access using phone, bcz in 2 year most of the sites will be accessed from phone. Which most likely have outdated browser and might not be compatible with HTML 5. But i don't see this as an issue if you site will be accessed from desktops.
There is another thing to consider, Arunchess. Who is your target audience and what will they likely be using to access your site? If you have small Mom & Pop-type companies who may not have the resources to upgrade their browsers very often, you might consider staying with HTML 4.01. If, however, your target audience is a group who tries to keep their browsers up to date, it might be worth the risk going to HTML 5.
