peggy filled her vans gas tank and noted that the odometer read 26342.8 after the next filling, the odometer read 26,736.7 it took 19.5 gallons to fill the tank. how many miles per gallon did the van get?? i can never understand word problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want the number of miles travelled divided by the number of gallons used

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(26,736.7-26342.8 \) is the number of miles travelled. compute this and then divide the result by 19.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw it is almost always the case that "per" mean "divided by" so for example miles per gallon means miles divided by gallons, miles per hour means miles divided by hours price per pound means dollars divided by pounds etc

thank you very much!! <3
