If by message you mean Direct Message, then you should be able to scroll through your history at http://openstudy.com/messages

Yes, that would be cool alright. I'm *pretty* sure that would be a major drain on the database though (due to volume of messages) - of course, I'm not tech-savvy compared to the rest of the OpenStudy team, so I'll allow one of them to give a more educated response ;)

I think OpenStudy needs a bigger database.
Or another server to put more data on.
But I don't really know what I'm talking about either.

Colm is right, under our current system that would be problematic. I believe our DB is up to around 4GB these days. Systems with databases as large as ours typically require a specialized fulltext search database, which would run alongside the normal database, to keep such a feature running smoothly. At least, that's the simplest/less expensive solution. There are other more expensive ones as well.

The problem is we don't really have the time to implement the hooks necessary to make that happen at this time. ;\
