Using complete sentences, explain how to completely factor 2x^2 - 8x - 42.

OpenStudy (precal):

do you know how to factor?

OpenStudy (precal):

I would factor out a GCF from all three terms, then factor what is left

OpenStudy (precal):

so what is your GCF?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To simplify it take out a GCF(Greatest Common Factor) so in this case 2 so you will get 2(x^2-4x-21)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because you pulled the 2 away from 2x^2, then divided 8/2=4, the divided 42/2=21
