I am having a problem getting a solid answer about capitalization. I have written a narrative essay about my Grandmother. I called her Gram. Throughout the essay I use the name "Gram" I also make references to my sister using her nickname "boo" Should gram and boo be capitalized or not?

I do believe so. Unless you're referring to an inanimate object (in witch this case you are not)  you should capitalize their name.
