A famous cereal is sold in a box measuring 10cm by 5cm by 4cm. If the shopkeeper receives the boxes in a carton measuring 60cm by 30cm by 24cm, how many boxes of cereal would be packed in a carton?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume of carton divided by volume of cereal box. Do you know how to solve for both?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, no im not quite sure how to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the cereal box measures 10 cm by 5 cm by 4 cm. To find the volume multiply the dimensions. What is 10 x 5 x 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got 200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we used the equation v=l*w*h?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. Now find the volume fo the carton with dimensions 60 cm by 30 cm by 24 cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok i got 43200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now divide 43200 by 200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now i divide the volume of carton divided by volume of cereal box which results in 216

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u :)
