So Im having trouble understanding the Lorentz transformation... particularly the "square root of -1 X V2/C2 part.. I cant seem to rationalize this in my brain... I would like a clear meaning for this set of notations...

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

Lorentz transformations are set up to accomodate the experimental observation that the speed of light is the same for all observers. Unless you have experience traveling near the speed of light(and who does?), they are going to seem pretty weird. The thing to do is to not get caught up in trying to figure out what "it means" and concentrate on learning how to use them. The intuition/feel that you seek will come later.....

thank you fwizbang. But later when?

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

I'm afraid I don't have the answer to that. At its heart, nature is just not the way our classical Newtonian intuition wants it to be. You just hhave to keep working with this stuff, and eventually you start to get a feel for it.(or you decide to do something else with your time.)
