The radius of the cone is 1.25 inches, and its height is 2.75 inches. If the diameter of the bubble gum ball is 0.5 inches, what is the closest approximation of the volume of the cone that can be filled with flavored ice?

Why did you double post this? http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4fe8941ee4b0bbec5cf8f8dc

i thought the first sentence would be confusing

For future reference, @julie001, you're able to edit your questions if you need to. Reposting shouldn't be necessary. :)

yea i didnt notice that until after thanks !

Luckily, there is a formula for the volume of a cone, and it's pretty simple to plug in the things we know and find the volume. The same is true for the volume of a sphere. Now, if we know both of those volumes, we can figure out how much space is left in the cone by subtracting the sphere's volume from the cone's total volume.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what formula do i use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume of a cone is 1/3 * pi * (radius)^2 * height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the volume of a sphere is (4/3)pi*r^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u both !

My pleasure! =D
