Question: 13 of 65: Read this sentence from the excerpt. They came and went, resided in the populous kennels, or lived obscurely in the recesses of the house after the fashion of Toots, the Japanese pug, or Ysabel, the Mexican hairless,—strange creatures that rarely put nose out of doors or set foot to ground. What does it mean when dogs live “obscurely in the recesses of the house”? Select one of the options below as your answer: A. They are not allowed out of the house. B. They stay or hide in the house. C. They are allowed in all parts of the house.

I think its B because obscurely means murkily or unclear and recesses means like the nooks or corners of the house.
