(-1)(10-2[2(2)-(2-6)])=-6, is this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

work inside of parentheses first folllowed by multiplication then adding/subtracting in order from left to right have you heard of the memory aid BODMAS?

OpenStudy (nikkimc):

No I have not heard of BODMAS. So the next line of the equation would be (-1) (10-2[8]), correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-1)(10-2[2(2)-(2-6)])=-6, = (-1)(10 - 2[4 -2 +6] = (-1)(10 - 2(8)) yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

= (-1)(-6)

OpenStudy (nikkimc):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok its 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BODMAS means ' brackets over Division/ multiplication add/subtract' - the order of operation

OpenStudy (anonymous):
