A view of Anytown, USA is shown on the grid below with Rock Park represented by quadrilateral RSTU. Due to overcrowding, another park will be built similar to Rock Park. Vertices A and D are plotted on the grid to represent two corners of new Sandstone Park. What could be the ordered pairs representing vertices B and C of quadrilateral ABCD so that Sandstone Park is similar to Rock Park?
B(6, 6), C(5, 5) B(9, 3), C(8, 2) B(10, 4), C(9, 3) B(5, 4), C(5, 3)
tips?
To make it similar, you want to have the height/width ratio be the same. What's the height and width of RSTU?
The width is 4 while the height is 2
Right, so we want it to have a height/width ratio of 1/2. We also want the corners to have the same angles. Easy way to do this is to keep everything parallel. So only go directly sideways when placing points, or go directly up/down.
I believe B is (10,4)
That means we want B to have a y-coordinate equal to the y-coordinate of A, and C to have a y-coordinate equal to the y-coordinate of D.
you?
I would agree with that.
however
could C be (5,3)
?
What do you think?
Take a look at your options.
B(6, 6), C(5, 5) B(9, 3), C(8, 2) B(10, 4), C(9, 3) B(5, 4), C(5, 3)
Do you see B (10,4) C(5,3)?
yep
ohhhhhhhhhh
brain fart
B(10, 4), C(9, 3
I would agree with that.
20/20 :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All done!
well
for now
my brain is acheing
I know the feeling well.
