Mike is using a telescope to view three stars. He notes the distances and angles between the lines joining the stars, as shown below. Which expression shows the distance between Star 1 and Star 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use tan to find the distance between star 1 and star 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos x(deg) = d/y d=distance for S1 to S3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is, tan(x)=(distance b/w star 1 and star3)/y multiply y both sides so, we have.. so, distance b/w star 1 and star3=y tan (x)

Thanks!
