Suppose the equation, y = 1600(1.03)x, represent the average cost of an education in a private college in 1992, where x stands for the number of years after 1992. What is the cost in 1992 (x = 0)? $0 $1,616 $1,600 $3,200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that supposed to be: \[y=1600(1.03)^{x}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's like everybody is getting this question.... what can you tell me about \(\large (any.number)^0 \) = ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wired yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how 'bout my question.. can you answer my question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have a calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no idk your questions and no i dont have calculator only on my phone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe u should put your phone down and use the computer's calculator....

OpenStudy (precal):

phones have built in calculators as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I just dont know what @dpaInc means when he says whats this (any.number)^0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry.. how can i be clearer?

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1340670008384:dw| it is a property you should know from the laws of exponents but x can not be 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since this is an exponential function, you obviously have had the properties of exponents... this is one of the most basic... any number raised to the zero power is....

OpenStudy (precal):

wow is it just us?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol....:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

only realized that now....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay i see what your saying @precal
