So, his overtime wage is 5 bucks more, that is 'x+5'.

Now, he works for '8' hours at normal wage, i.e. 'x' per hour, so his earning from that = 8x

And, he works for '3' hours at his overtime wage, that is 'x+5' per hour, so his earning from that = 3*(x+5)

So, total money earned from both stints = 8x + 3(x+5) = 114
