Which of the following does not represent a function? graph of a line with a positive slope and y intercept at negative 5 graph of a negative parabola oriented about the y axis with y intercept at positive 5 graph of a hyperbola oriented about the x axis with x intercepts at positive 1 and negative 1 graph of a negative slope line with y intercept at positive 5
Okay a function means that for every single unique input there is only one unique output. OR for one unique output, multiple unique input. You will know this as a one-to-one function or a many-to-one function. A one-to-many graph will not be a function. This is depicted as follow |dw:1340735989204:dw| In the graph above, at the dotted value of x, there is 2 value of y as the output, thus it does not fit the definition of a function. Thus your answer would be "graph of a negative parabola oriented about the y axis with y intercept at positive 5" because it is oriented about the y axis, making it look exactly as what my drawing would be. What i find weird is that it only mentions one of the y-intercept instead of naming both intercepts.
