Hailey is doing a fundraiser in which she will swim laps in a pool for money. She has gotten donations from friends and neighbors that amount to $5 per lap. If her parents gave her $20 to get the fundraising started, which equation can be used to determine the total amount of money Hailey will raise, m, as determined by the number of laps she is able to swim, s?

m is the money so it is isolated as (m =) s represents a variable, which is the number of laps also remember it is 5 dollars per lap. 20 is a constant, which is always added to the amount of laps multiplied by how much a lap is worth. Can you figure out an equation from this?

m = 20 + 5s?
