given eqn is v/v0 + x/xo = 1
v = v0- xv0/x0
dv/dt = -v0(v)/x0 = a
= -v0/x0 ( v0 - xv0/x0) => straight line with +ve slope
for x =0 ,,v <0 ..and for v=0,,x>0

for any given live,, eqn is as follows :
x/a + y/b = 1
where a = x intercept and b is y-axis intercept
this has a very simple proof..you need it ?
