The sum of two consecutive even integers is 42. Find the numbers. Let x=the first number. A* x+(x-2)=42 B* x+(2x)=42 C* x+(x+2)=42 D* x+(2x+2)=42

Parth (parthkohli):

:O 42

Parth (parthkohli):

Well... anyway The two consecutive even integers are a number and two added to that number. So, x and x + 2 are the numbers

Parth (parthkohli):

The sum of x and x + 2 is 42 Try to get that into an equation.

Parth (parthkohli):

Cheers!

Dude, you are smart!!!

Parth (parthkohli):

Thank ya ;p

OpenStudy (ganpat):

given number is 2.. so the next number shd be x +2, as it is a even consecutive number.. so option is D.. and answer would be x+(x+2) = 42 therefore the numbers are 20 n 22...
