How many solutions are there to the following system of equations? 8x + 4y = 0 6x + 3y = 0

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

Since there are zeros on the RHS, there is either one solution(0,0) , or an infinite set. Try eliminating x, if you get the equation y-0, there's one, if you wind up with 0=0, there's an infinite set of solutions, as the equations are independent.

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

oops, change the last sentence to "not indepedent"

So there is how many solutions?
