please i really really need help i dont understand it and if i fail this question again my life will be over! please help me. "three times one number added to five times another number is 54.the second number is two less than than the first. use the sytem of equations to find the numbers."

Replace one number with x. Replace another number with y.

A little more of a hint: You're going to want to end up with something like blahblah X + blahblah Y = some number herpderp X + herpderp Y = some other number then you can play with the two and add/subtract each equation from the other to get to an answer for either x or y. you solve for EITHER x or y first and then SUBSTITUTE.

thank you
