|dw:1340846280896:dw| You would first want both fractions to have an equivalent denominator so the closest one would be eighteen. The first fraction already has a denominator of 18 and the second fraction's denominator could be multiplied by six to get to eighteen. Because you multiplied by six on the denominator, you have to multiply six on the numerator. This would allow you to subtract and get 8 5/18
