Judging by the collection of details about you on this website, I would assume you read fiction and also participate in enjoying a lot of visual fictions (movies, shows, etc). With that said, this is fairly easy to answer, no?

However, if this is a question directed toward the audience of OS, here's my answer:
The most important thing in a good work of fiction is the ability to keep me interested.
