You help your dad build a dog house for your dog. You tell him that it would be easy to build a dog house in the shape of a tent. The slanted sides are 5 feet long and the bottom of the house is 6 feet across. You draw him the following illustration to help him find the height of the dog house. What do you tell him the height of the dog house is? A. 9 ft B. 4 ft C. 16 ft D. 4.5 ft
What we have is an isosceles triangle with two equal sides of 5ft and a base of 6ft. If you draw a vertical line from where the two 5ft sides meet down to the base it will divide the base in half. This will give you a right angle triangle, so you use the Pythagorean theorem to solve your height 5^2 = 3^2 + h^2.
so what would it be
That turns int lo \[h=\sqrt{5^2-3^2}\]
So it becomes 4
oh ok thanx
