i got the answer but dont know how to do the steps to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply first equation by (-4), and multiply second equation by (-3). The coefficients for both x's will be the same but will differ in sign. Hence you'll be able to eliminate x by combining/adding top equation to the bottom. Then you solve for y. Next, use that value of y and plug it into any of the two equations to get the value for x. I hope this helps.
