MIT 6.00 Intro Computer Science (OCW) 7 Online

Does this course focus on object-oriented programming? i.e., given that python can be used in an object-oriented or non object-oriented way, does this course focus on OOP? I'm looking for a good introduction to object-oriented programming, and I'm deciding between this course and the Stanford engineering everywhere course: "Introduction to computer science - programming methodology", which uses Java. Do you have thoughts on which course (this or the Stanford course) would provide a better introduction to OOP? Thanks very much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the title of the course is Introduction To Computer Science and Programming. it is an intro course it exposes the student to a number of computer science topics - the basics there is some oop in there but that is not the focus the focus is computer science

i would think the Stanford course is also an intro course focusing on computer science topic/basics - not strictly oop

I would think that a very good course to learn OOP would be anny C++ course. C++ is a good OOP language. The modules are easy. Another choice would be SAS, but SAS is a little more difficult to use unless you are doing serious number crunching.
