Describe the differences between the graph of y = –3(x + 7)2 – 10 and the standard position graph of y = x2. plz help :)

OpenStudy (sburchette):

The equation of a parabola can be written in the form \[y=a(x \pm b)^2+c\]The a will affect whether the parabola is wide or narrow. If a is greater than 1, it will be be narrow. If a is less than 1, but greater than 0, it will widen. If a is positive, it will open upward, if it is negative it will open downward. The b term will shift the parabola left or right. If it is +b, it will move left, if it is -b it will move right. c affect the vertical shift. If c is positive, it will shift up, if it is negative, it will shift down. In that case of\[y=-3(x+7)^2-10\]The -3 will make the parabola open narrow and downward. The +7 will shift the parabola to the left by 7 and the -10 will shift it down 10.
