Yes. Depending on whether the liquid is - diamagnetic (this slightly dampens the magnetic field) - paramagnetic (this slightly amplifies the magnetic field) - ferromagnetic (this significantly amplies the magnetic field) Water is diamagnetic and hence the magnetic field is lessened.
