4. Additive inverse 5. Additive Identity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Additive Inverse: If we add a number and its additive inverse, the sum is 0. Additive Identity: If we add a number to 0, the sum is that number.

@Mr._To Are you sure that Reason 3: Additive Inverse and Reason 4 is the addition property of equality?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not 100% sure, but just a suggestion

In two-column proof, the reason for number 3 is the result of the operation from number 2 and so on... 1. 3(x - 4) = 33 1. Given 2. 3x - 12 = 33 2. Distributive from statement 1 3. 3x - 12 + 12 = 33 + 12 3. Addition Prop of Equ. from statement 2 4. 3X + 0 = 45 4. Additive Inverse from 3. Actually we also need simply on the right side. 5. 3x = 45 5 Additive Identity from 4.

In the United States, Geometry is the most controversial course especially in teaching. You can find 5 Geometry prove the same problem in 5 different ways. For example, we can skip statement #4 and the #5 reason is "simplify".
