What is the range of the graph of y = sin x? A. All Real Numbers B. -1 ≤ x ≤ 1 C. -1 ≤ y ≤ 1 D. (0, 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C Since sin (x) is the ratio of the opposite side of the angle and the hypotenuse, and the leg is smaller then the hypotenuse, sin (x) is less than 1 in a right triangle. If we extend from a right triangle to a unit circle, then Sin (x) could be 1 when x = 90 and -1 when x = -90. B is incorrect because we're looking for the range, not the domain.
