B. Athens and Sparta united to defeat Persia. (A) can't be true because Athens did not support Persian rule over any Grecian city-state. It's true that Athens and Sparta would later fight each other in the Peloponnesian War, though that was many years AFTER the Persian Wars. (C) can't be true, either, because Xerxes was the son of Darius. He was also a lot more successful than his father. Under him, Persia would actually go on to conquer most of the Grecian region until he was finally defeated. (D) is tricky, but untrue. It's true that the Spartans had been the leading military force in the Persian Wars, but untrue because a helot was akin to being a slave and no one enjoyed that role. Spartans basically treated helots as if they were lower than dirt.
