Why are polymerases categorized as transferases? A—P + B ⇔ B—P + A This is the general formula for the phosphotransferase category (of which polymerase is a member of). deoxynucleoside triphosphate + DNA_n = diphosphate + DNA_n+1 And that is polymerase's general formula - it seems the two do not match up?
