How to stay motivated?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you're writing a book? The thrill and excitement seems to be withering! Any advise to stay motivated?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try doing it in moderation. Tackle it piece by piece and don't try to rush things all at once. Take breaks by doing something else to clear your head from time to time, but don't forget to go back to writing! This can pretty much apply to anything else and it can be much harder to do when you're faced with deadlines, but the important thing to remember is not to try and force things to a point where you just hate doing it. If you need your creative juices jump started, go see a movie, read a comic, or just go for a jog. Neil Gaiman tweeted awhile back on saying that he was stuck on a part that he was writing in a new book he was doing, went out for his usual morning jog, and inspiration came to him to figure it out. Sometimes that's all it takes to stay motivated and ready for what you want to write about - doing something else to relax your mind and let new ideas get in there to keep things exciting.

Captain_Page_Turner, had the really good advise. Sometimes, when i write i have to take time off(even sometimes up to a week) before i continue writing. i find this helps when i don't know whats going to happen next. It gives my life time to readjust, and my imagination time to build on the story, and add little twists that were inspired by my life that would have not been there otherwise.

Writer's block is a very normal thing. Take a break and try to forget about the plot for sometime (we get fed-up after when we obsess about an idea for too long), until fresh ideas start seeping in. And then back to juicing up the story!

Staying motivated is never an easy thing to do, and I agree with -Jaeden. He says you must take a break and I cannot agree more. Try walking in a park, taking a stroll with a friend, help someone with there own work, cough, on this great website, and of course never give up and keep on going! You can do this and you will succeed! ~ stay positive :)
