Write the equation of the line which passes through (2, –3) and is perpendicular to y = 4x + 7 in standard form. I dont know if I have the right answer? y=4x+7 -3=4(2)+b -3=8+b B=11 and y=-1/4? So Y=-1/4x-11 Is this right?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well it sounds right to me :/ but you need to multiply everything by 4 to get rid of the denominator

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

then put it all in one side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't that what I did?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

what do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure where I messed up at?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

you didnt mess up...im telling that there are are steps after haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just thought the answer was Y=-1/4x-11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for ur help.
