y

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Start by graphing the line y = x. Then make the line a dotted or dashed line. Then shade below the line (since the inequality is a less than sign)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I;m sorry but don't understand how to place y=x on the graph

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

When x = 1, y = x becomes y = 1. So we have the point (1,1) When x = 2, y = x becomes y = 2. So we have the point (2,2) So we have the two points (1,1) and (2,2)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Plot the points. Then connect them with a straight line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay, thanks a bunch I understand now.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
