Which of the following statements are NOT true regarding functions? (more than one answer work) A. The horizontal line test may be used to determine whether a function is one-to-one. B. The vertical line test may be used to determine whether a function is one-to-one. C. A function is a relation in which each value of the input variable is paired with at least one value of the output variable. D. A sequence is a function whose domain is the set of natural numbers. I think A is true so its not A I think its B and....?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

C is false. A function is a relation in which each value of the input variable is paired with *only* one value of the output variable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so B and C are not true?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

B is worded a little odd to me...but it's basically true. A vertical line test will tell you if an equation represents a function. So to be a one-to-one function it must obviously be a true function first...then it must pass the horizontal line test.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So A and b are true do you know if D is true or false?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

D is true...the only one false is C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank u!

OpenStudy (shane_b):

no problem, good luck :)
