= x(x - 4) + 3(x - 4) Distribute x and 3 inside the parenthesis and then add or subtract the like terms..

Whenever you see a group of a variable and a number multiplied by a group of a variable and a number, know that you should just use the distributive property. (Later on in maths you'll see three things in the parenthesis, but you'll know how to tackle them if you remember that you just distribute everything in the parenthesis.)
