Minerals are considered to be Answer made out of rocks the building blocks of rocks extremely rare and valuable difficult to find
All of the above really.
Process of elimination if you don't already know the answer from memory or experience... 1. Some minerals are rare and valuable, sure, but others like Calcium Carbonate (i.e.: primary ingredient in Limestone rocks) or Quartz (i.e.: common ingredient in most rocks, most of what sand is) are not. 2. Minerals are not hard to find if you can find rocks. There are rocks under your feet right now, molten ones even. Got a shovel? You can find some rocks. Heck in most places on the planet rocks are exposed. The last two are completely false, @belive_27. There's actually one good & correct answer to this. Now as to the first two, consider the following diagram (like sets from mathmatics): |dw:1341236021143:dw| All rocks are made from minerals, but NOT all minerals are rocks. Examples? Sulfur, Gold, Graphite, Diamond, etc. Need more proof? Take a microscopic view at a thin, back-lit slice of rock and you'd see something this: http://tea.armadaproject.org/Images/weiss/weiss_slide.JPG.jpg Hmm, lots and lots of tiny crystals all stuck together tightly. What do ya know! :-P
